Best Online Poker Strategy Book?

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of poker books. Let’s take a look:

Question: I’m looking for a book for my holiday, and since I’m going on holiday to Florida on the 6th of July, I would like something read. I have just started internet poker, Full Tilt Poker to be exact. Considering there is no specific book I would like, I feel it would be a worthy investment in buying a online poker strategy book.
I’m looking for one that tells you pretty much every hand to play, when to bet, how much to bet, when to fold, which draws and OESD’s to play. Literally everything.
Anyone got any opinions?
Thanks alot!
Answer: the best ting to do is go to amazon.co.uk and search for books you want, they have customer reviews which will help

after reading a variety of sites, they all have exactly the same advice. pretty much nothing separates site A from site B.

It pretty much goes like this:

    Bankroll
    Choosing a Game
    Pot Odds
    Playing styles
    Starting hands

Interestingly, few sites will go into things like M and inflection play. A couple of sites will talk about +/- EV. A couple of sites (I’m looking at you, DoverPro :) ) talk about point ranking systems, which is essentially another way to calculate starting hand values vs pot odds. Some sites offer odds calculators.

Just plug "poker strategy" into google and read away. :)

Oh, for vacation reading, the gold standards right now are:
    Harrington on Hold’em, Vol 1 and 2
    and
    Super/System, Vol 1 and 2.

For in depth post flop decisions like you described a book cannot help you with.

there is just too much ground to cover.
Personal experience, forum membership and perhaps a poker training site membership would help you there.

Yes nearly all poker books do contain the same stuff.
Also nearly all Poker books are catered towards tournements rather than Cash games.

Cash game books i would recommended are the Harrington on Cash game books or Ed Millers Professional Poker.

I’ve read Make a Million from Online Poker by Nigel Goldman and I think it’s just what you’re looking for.

It’s for sale from Amazon at £5.99 – you can see it here:
