We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of poker books. Let’s take a look:
Question: What is the Best Poker Strategy Book Available? ?
Answer: Doyle’s books are a decent read but and you can glean some good info from among the piles of pages but are pretty dated and aren’t really geared to the average joe. I’ve never heard of the book Dover is talking about but sounds like it’s worth checking out. The classic, the bible, is still The Theory of Poker and after all these years there still hasn’t been anything written that can compete and it’s a must read for any budding poker player.

Question: I’m looking for a book for my holiday, and since I’m going on holiday to Florida on the 6th of July, I would like something read. I have just started internet poker, Full Tilt Poker to be exact. Considering there is no specific book I would like, I feel it would be a worthy investment in buying a online poker strategy book.
I’m looking for one that tells you pretty much every hand to play, when to bet, how much to bet, when to fold, which draws and OESD’s to play. Literally everything.
Anyone got any opinions?
Thanks alot!
Answer: the best ting to do is go to amazon.co.uk and search for books you want, they have customer reviews which will help
What a great poker strategy question:
Question: Any One Done the Poker Strategy Quiz to Get Free$100 Anyone Done It Wats the Answers?
Answer: Pfft that sounds like an spam scam. When you get the end of the "quiz" you will have to enter your e-mail then complete and trail offer.
I have seen some of those so sleazy that you won’t get your "reward" unless your referrals also complete their offers as well.
This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: Anyone know what strategy tactics to use to win at online poker more than lose? Is the tight aggressive appraoch relevant here or should I be more adventurous?
Answer: First off, once you find a tactic that works, stick with it. It helps to keep a simple yet strong strategy going, even if it fails on occasion.
My strategy when playing online is to bet low and steady. Never raise unless you are absolutely sure your hand is the best. Call call call. and with only a pair, always fold. Thats my strategy and it seems to work more often than not.

Question: I have looked at a few, but nothing really satisfying. Any pointers would be much appreciated.
I would just add that i’m not a noob, i show a pretty good profit on sharkscope, but i fell like i’m on a plateau, unable to crack the higher buy-ins often enough to make them worthwhile.
I want to find advice and strategies that will improve my game. i play online already. What i want is somebody to point me towards a place where there are articles, essays etc on higher sit and go technique.
Answer: Card player.com as well as the fish tank.com are good sites with lots of information and tips on how to play right. In a sit n go you have to play more aggressive. The two reasons for this are in a sit n go usually only 1-2 people will get paid out or get the seat to the bigger event, so there is no reason to sit back here, in a tournament it pays to sit back because you can keep moving up in the money as other players and short stacks go at it. But in a sit n go there is no payout for 3rd or 4th place so being more aggressive is the right way to play. Also most sit n gos you start with short chips and short levels so you don’t usually have room to play.
